Charly Oakley

Hailing from Melbourne/Naarm, Charly trained in music theatre for 3 years across two institutions (Showfit and Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University) and in 2024, after featuring in the musical’s workshop, made their professional debut as Linda Twist in the Australian premier of Round The Twist the Musical (dir. Simon Phillips) for Queensland Theatre.

An avid and multidisciplinary artist, Charly’s endeavours are not limited to the theatre stage. In 2022, they released their debut album ‘Yelling Sh*t at the Universe’, amassing over 100,00 streams on Spotify. No stranger to lighting up a stage, Charly’s exuberant and dynamic headline shows have sold out repeatedly across both Brisbane and Melbourne. Proficient in guitar, piano and French (oui!), Charly’s love of learning and evolving is core to their artistry.

During their time at the Queensland Conservatorium, they played Mac The Knife in The Threepenny Opera. They also collaborated closely with award winning writer/director Claire Christian — writing the titular song for an original work, ‘Growing Pains’, and most recently arranging original song ‘Garden of Growth’ for yet another devised piece at the Conservatorium.

Their recent single, Against the Odds, has taken over the airways on national radio (KIIS, Fox, Nova) and seen Charly featured in Rolling Stone as one of the next Australian up-and-coming artists to watch.

Charly is a gender fluid artist and uses they/them pronouns.
